EEA and Ukraine
According to the results of the contest, the Association "Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine" is recognized as the National Office of the European Energy Award in Ukraine.
The Association of Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine (AEMU) is an organization that unites ca. 90 cities that have expressed a desire to implement a policy of sustainable energy development in their communities. Since 2009, AEMU has been the official Supporting Structure for the global Initiative “Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy” in Ukraine.
Among Ukrainian cities, the pilot participants of the EEA are Vinnytsia (received a certificate in 2015 and confirmed it in 2019) and Zhytomyr (certified in 2019), three cities - Lviv, Sumy and Cherkasy - have been selected for the next stage of the pilot project. And in 2021, within the framework of participation in the EU EXCITE project of the Horizon 2020 Program, 5 more communities were selected for the implementation of the EEA, namely Myrhorod, Novovolynsk, Severodonetsk, Trostyanets and Chortkiv.
