European Energy Award
The European Energy Award (EEA) is a quality management and certification system for municipalities and regions. It supports local authorities in implementing interdisciplinary planning approaches and effective energy and climate policy measures. The EEA has the following goals:
* Building a system of continuous improvement of organizational and administrative capacity of local self-government bodies (LSGs) to efficiently implement the policy of sustainable energy development in their communities
* Using of European tools for assessing the organizational capacity and the current state of local self-government and thedevelopment of the Action Plan
* Providing advisory support within implementation of Action Plans
* Audit of the LSG system and receipt of the award after reaching a certain level of compliance
* Establishment of a depository of best practices of local self-government members of the EEA
* Communication and exchange of experience between local self-government participants from Ukraine and other countries
* Promotion of cities that have received awards among potential investors at the international, national, regional and local levels
* Building links with governmental institutions and synergies with related international technical aid initiatives and programs
